About oblivious RAM (ORAM)

Oblivious RAM (ORAM) is an advanced cryptographic technology that helps hide memory access patterns. In a conventional system, if someone observes how often and which memory cells are accessed, they can analyze this data and draw conclusions about the content. ORAM overcomes this problem by making the data access process invisible to outside observers.

This technology is especially important for ensuring privacy in cases where users work with encrypted data on remote servers. Even if hackers have access to the server, they will not be able to figure out what data is being used, since ORAM “obfuscates” the sequence of requests and encrypts the memory access traces. This makes ORAM useful for cloud services and blockchain apps where privacy and data security are critical.

ORAM technology can be used in decentralized systems where it’s important to conceal user actions, as well as to protect sensitive data in cloud computing and databases.
